1. Scope
This policy applies to the Android application LocalSeek (Chinese name 本机智搜, package name io.junnova.offlinefilesearch), developed by Junnova.
It explains how LocalSeek accesses, uses, stores, and deletes data on your device. The app does not require an account, and Junnova does not create a cloud user profile through LocalSeek.
2. Data the app accesses and processes
Files and media
After you grant permission, LocalSeek reads files in shared storage to provide full-device indexing, search, preview, and organization. This may include file names, paths, file types, sizes, modification times, and content from documents, images, videos, OCR text, and PDFs.
On-device analysis results
The app creates a local search index containing extracted text, OCR results, image labels, visual embeddings, representative video-frame analysis, and file metadata. If a photo already contains capture time or EXIF location metadata, the app may add that existing metadata to the local index so it can be searched.
People and face analysis
To support grouping photos by person and selecting better shots, LocalSeek may detect face regions on the device, create feature vectors for similarity comparison, and store group assignments, face bounds, quality information, and names you assign to groups. This data is used only for local organization, is not used to verify real-world identity, and is not sent to an external identity database.
Searches and settings
Search terms, recent searches, language, theme, indexing progress, and other preferences are stored in the app's private local storage to provide search history, resume work, and remember your choices.
3. Data collection, transmission, and sharing
LocalSeek does not transmit the data described above to Junnova's servers. The release build has no internet or network-state permission and includes no account system, advertising, behavioral analytics, remote configuration, or crash reporting.
- Junnova does not collect or view your files, photos, videos, documents, search terms, index, or people-grouping data.
- Junnova does not sell, rent, or share that data.
- The OCR, image recognition, face detection, and ONNX inference components used by the app run within the app process or on the device; the app does not upload user content through those components.
Google may process Play Store installation, update, and store statistics under Google's own terms. This is separate from data collected within LocalSeek.
4. System permissions and their purposes
- All files access / storage read: Required for the core file-search function so LocalSeek can scan shared storage you authorize and build a local index. It is not used for advertising, analytics, or third-party purposes.
- Notifications: Used to show the progress and status of long-running indexing tasks. Denying notifications does not cause any upload.
- Foreground service, wake lock, and battery-optimization settings: Allow a local indexing task you start to continue while the screen is off or the app is temporarily in the background. Android's “data sync” foreground-service type is a system classification for the background task; it does not mean cloud synchronization occurs.
- Internet and network state: These permissions are explicitly removed from the release build.
Android 11 and later treat “All files access” as a special permission. The app explains why it is needed for full-device indexing, and you decide whether to grant it in system settings. You may revoke it at any time in Android settings.
5. Local storage and security
The index, search history, people-analysis results, and settings are kept in private app storage or no-backup storage. The app configuration excludes these data from Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer.
Offline operation reduces network-transfer risk, but the security of data on the device can still be affected by the device lock, operating-system security, malware, or other software with system-level access. We recommend enabling a screen lock and installing operating-system security updates.
6. Data retention and deletion
- The local index and settings remain until you clear the app's storage or uninstall LocalSeek.
- You can clear recent searches in the app. You can delete all private app data and indexes by choosing “Clear storage” on Android's App info screen.
- When a file is moved or deleted, its stale index entry is removed during a later scan.
- The app's organization features move or permanently delete an original file only after you take an explicit action and confirm where Android requires it. Normal indexing and search do not modify original files.
Because Junnova cannot access the local data on your device, we cannot inspect or delete it remotely from a server. You can delete it by clearing app storage or uninstalling the app.
7. User-initiated sharing and external apps
When you explicitly choose to open or share a file, LocalSeek uses the Android system chooser to grant the app you select temporary access to that file. The recipient's subsequent handling is governed by its own privacy policy. LocalSeek does not automatically share files in the background.
